The Maiden and Perston Memorial are our first races for the season, with the Maiden for those who have never won a harrier race before, and the Perston Memorial for those who have. They are sealed handicap races, so that winners are determined both by fastest times and by beating their (secret) handicap times by the greatest margins.



There were 121 club members competing - our biggest field at the M&P since 2006. As is traditional for this event, conditions were excellent - hot and sunny. The course underfoot was similar to last year - generally firm with a few soft patches.



In the kids races, Thomas White won the 7-and-unders 800m race; in the 1000m race Kushla Smith won ahead of Danielle Ohlsson. Jack Julian was first boy.



The 'scratch' winner (fastest time) of the Maiden was last year's runner-up Aaron Morey, ahead of Cameron Edwards and Daniel Gascgoine. Jesse Baxter and Danika Viskovic were first equal on on handicap.



The Perston Memorial scratch winner was Hayden Prosser, just ahead of last year's winner Sean McCrudden. Alana Gould won on handicap.
