20th Masters 8k Road Race 3 Aug 2004.

Ged Brent, Chris Speakman, Peter Wrigley, Dave Murgatroyd The perfect weekend weather continued, Sunday 1 August, and the mood was light as the masters runners waited on the line for Ged (late again) to don his racing kit.
The race was soon under way and a seesaw battle ensued amongst the front runners with Chris Speakman, Peter Wrigley and Dave Murgatroyd sharing the lead over different parts of the 5 lap 8k course.
In the end it was Chris who won with a quick sprint finish over the last 50m or so from Dave Murgatroyd 2nd and Peter Wrigley 3rd.
Add Ged to Chris and Dave then Lynne Broad and Olympic won the team event from Scottish.
Fastest women were Bev Hodge and Christine Jones. Although 2 age group records were broken, Peter Thomas (Trentham) won the Jim Lockhart and Mariette Hewitson Memorial Baton breaking his age group record by the most.
All in all a good mornings racing and a nice lunch as usual. Thanks to Brian Watson and his team once again!
