Shake off the winter blues... 13 Jul 2017.

Club run from Alex Moore, 15 July, 1:45

Hopefully a chance to get out and go for the run that you have not done this week while the weather was foul... Stop in afterwards for a cup of something warm.

Wellington Champs a success!

All the work we put in paid off with a brilliantly run event and a host of good times and medals.  Mike has posted detailed results for Olympic on our site: http://www.olympicharriers.nz/results/event.php?eid=1259  You can also get to the full official results from there.

On the organisation side Juan ran the outfield along with Athletics Wellington, and Megan kept the BBQ ticking over -- having to buy more sausages suggests things were going well.  Behind those two were a host of willing volunteers - really a case of you thanking each other cos most people chipped in somewhere along the way.

Wellington Masters 8 K run and 6.4 K walk, Clubrooms, Sunday 16 July, 10:45am

This one has snuck up on me - apologies for the late notice.  Masters of any age get to run or walk around a 1.6km loop behind our clubrooms and then get a light lunch and prizegiving afterwards.  Really can recommend as it is lots of fun.  Plus, studies have shown competing in this race may change your next 5 K time by up to 2 minutes.  Well... your next 5 k race is almost sure to be between 0-2 (or maybe more) minutes either slower or faster.

There is a charge of $15 for club members or $20 if you bring a non-club friend, but bear in mind the ratio of prizes to entrants is usually pretty good.  Please fill in this entry form so organisers can plan better http://www.wellingtonmastersathletics.org.nz/jville.html, but you can enter on the day.

Club Champs at Boom Rock this year - 22 July

This year we will return to the scene of the Grand Memorial to battle for honours with your clubmates.  For those that have been around for a while this will be a familiar setting as it was where the club champs used to be in years gone by.

Athletic New Zealand Road Relays are coming

30th September is not as far away as you might think, and really Rotorua isn't that far either.  Keep it in mind!

Social Contacts

  • There are a couple of active Facebook pages associated with the club.  If memory serves you need to be accepted to get access but that is not a big hassle.  A variety of semi organised runs at different levels, encouragement for summer track athletes, and celebrations of current (and some past) performances all turn up regularly.
