Club run/walk from the Clubrooms, 26 September, 1:45
It has been a rough old week when some of us (well me at least) have been wrapping up and staying indoors. Hopefully things are on the turn and we can get a good run in on the weekend. See you all there.
Close racing in the rain
The Perston Baton relay at Karori rounded out the club races for the season with testing conditions and another knife-edge finish. Sean fairly comfortably led Butch and Hayden across the line but unknown to any of the runners there was a penalty from the TMO to be served which made everything very very close. Spectators were debating the penalty, working our the implications, and peering through the rain to see just who emerged from the trees first and with what margin.
Reliving the drama back at the club rooms was helped along by a table loaded with food as people celebrated a significant milestone for Richard Martin, and generally sought to rebuild themselves.
National Road Relays, 3 October
Accommodation is sorted and Mike has booked dinner at Trevino's for those that want it on the Friday night so things are ready to go. Make sure you have shared your mobile phone number with your team captain and let Brian (brusbrid@xtra.co.nz) know when you are arriving as it gets a bit tricky keeping track of people as they turn up on Friday.
End of Season Prizegiving and Dinner, Saturday 17 October
The last organised club day is zooming up and it will be followed by prizegiving and then the annual club dinner at 1841 Bar & Restaurant (Top Field Function Area), Johnsonville at 7pm. You need to let Geraldine know if you are going to the dinner -- RSVP to secretary@olympicharriers.org.nz.
Looking ahead...
The Junior Athletics season is gearing up so get those registrations in using the online system: https://memberdesq.imgstg.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=main&OrgID=10499.
Senior members (and keen juniors!) will have a pretty relaxed series of summer runs each weekend of the off-season, or indeed can join in the track comps. Give or take a bit we alternate weeks between one run from the clubrooms and one from near someone's house.
If you want something more testing we got a note about a run in Havelock North in November - details below...
