Shaw Baton relays -- Saturday 28th 20 Apr 2012.

The Shaw Baton Relay is Olympic Harriers' second event of the season, and Wellington's first inter-club event. It is held on Saturday 28th of April at Battle Hill Farm Park. Olympic Harriers organises this event.

Each lap is a short and sharp 2km, over traditional cross country terrain: rugged farmland with hills, jumps and water crossings.

There are three races: the four-lap relay for the women's and boys' grades (MW, SW, W19/16, G13, B13, G11, B11), a six-lap relay for the men's grades (MM, SM, M19/16), and a 1km scratch (non-relay) race for the 9s and under.

Batons will be awarded to the winning M19, W19, SM, SW, MM and MW teams. Gold Medals will be awarded to the winning B13, G13, B11 and G11 teams. Certificates will be awarded to the second and third placed relay teams. Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals will be awarded to the first three placegetters in the 9 and under boys and 9 and under girls.

Entries to the event are done by each club: runners generally contact their club captain to register their interest in competing (Olympic members should contact their grade captain).

Note you do not need to wear your Athletics Wellington timing chip for this event - as last year, chip timing will be first used for the Vosseler Shield next month.
