College Sport Wellington awards 12 Nov 2002.
The College Sport Wellington Sportsperson of the Year awards were held on Sunday night at the Duxton Hotel. There were 700 nominations for awards in 29 sports categories. Olympic Harriers members were very successful, cleaning out the two Cross-Country and Road Running category awards:
Dana Hastie (Newlands College)
- Reserve for NZ team that competed in world mountain-running championship
- Wellington senior secondary schoolgirl cross-country champion
- Wellington senior secondary schoolgirl road race champion
Matt Prosser (Wellington College)
- Competed in world mountain-running championship in Austria
- NZ junior mountain running champion
- Member of NZ secondary school cross-country team
- Wellington secondary school cross-country champion
Overall sportspersons of the year winners were Lachlan Tijsen (Rongatai College) for achievements in Waterpolo, and Sarah-Jane Jones (Chilton St James) for achievements in artistic rollerskating. Winners in the Athletics category were Hana McEwan of Marsden Collegiate and Bradley Quinn of St Pat’s Silverstream.
