Good results for Olympic in the 20th running of this event on Sunday. Despite the usual wintery conditions. A good splash of snow coating the Orongorongas meant the temperature was very nippy! The Marathoners were treated to rain and hail and rather strong winds, Bracing!!! Fortunately there were also good periods of tail wind running on the way back to the Stadium.

Mike Wakelin followed up last years win in the Half Marathon with another this year his time was 1:10:41, Jim Ardin was 4th in 1:14:33. Warren Matulick placed 2nd in the Masters Men 40-44 grade in a time of 1:22:14. Dana Hastie was out there also she placed 2nd in the open women's grade in 1:26:02

As I myself approached the turn around for the half I was greeted by the site of black singlets returning in mass from the other direction, a fine site!!

Two of them were Iain Westfall and Mark Brocklehurst flying along on the return journey in the Full Marathon. Mark ended up placing 3rd in 2:48:35 and Iain 4th in 2:49:13.

A superb effort by all these guys. Well Done!!!
