Summer run - Makara Wind Farm 6 Dec 2016.
Pack run/walk, Makara Wind Farm, Sat 10 Dec, 1:45pm
Over to Makara, head down towards the beach but soon after getting on the beach road veer left up the hill to the Wind Farm area. There are a bunch of loops from there of varying distances and difficulty...
- Short walk, just 1.5 km and not too challenging
- Beach loop of ~6 km, which has best part of 200 m vertical and a good stretch along the shingle beach
- Opau loop, 5.5 k of mixed forest and open track - good climb here too
I'll bring a few maps so people can get the hang of things, or else you can have a good look at: http://tracks.org.nz/track/show/1288. On the way back those that want to can stop in at the Clubroooms.
Congratulations!
Each year four performance scholarships are awarded to recognise the achievements of our highest performing club members. The scholarships are equal to the value of a club membership for one year, and are awarded to top performers drawn from across our junior, senior and masters grades. The winners are also subject to approval by the club committee.
The committee is delighted to announce that Michelle van Looy, Ben Ives, Olivia Pugh, Martin McCrudden have been awarded a scholarship for the 2017 season.
Athletics
Esther, Trent, Barrie and Michelle all made themselves dizzy running the 10,000 m at the Newtown track last week - great effort guys and some good times. This coming week there are the North Island Champs at Palmerston North.
Tuesday training, Alex Moore, 6:30 pm
Well recommended for all ages, and Chris gets the balance of fun, performance, and a bit of pain spot on.

Social Contacts
There are a couple of active Facebook pages associated with the club. If memory serves you need to be accepted to get access but that is not a big hassle. A variety of semi organised runs at different levels, encouragement for summer track athletes, and celebrations of current (and some past) performances all turn up regularly.
