On the home straight... 14 Sep 2016.

Perston Baton Relay, Karori Park, 12:30pm Sat 17th September

This is the final club race of the season -- where did the winter go?  A little bit of everything - fast hard paths, grass, off road tracks, a gnarly little climb and the expectation from team members to look as if you are trying when you come in to the relay change over.  A bit like last week, teams are formed on the day to ensure close racing, with teams able to strategise around who does how many laps.  Be there early please so we can organise the teams in good order.

Prizegiving is a week earlier

The Committee is trying something a little different this year in that it is moving the prizegiving forward a week to the 8th October so we can hold it at the Tawa Softball Club.  The idea is to have a juniors prizegiving in the mid to late afternoon followed by the senior club a little later with the option to stay on and celebrate the achievements of the year over food and a few drinks.  Full details and times to come in the next newsletter, but it is shaping up to be a good night out.

If there are any trophies left out there we need them back.  There is a lot to organise before prize giving and it makes it much easier if the prizes themselves are sorted out in good time.  Thanks.

Good times at Pelorus

Last Sunday a number of club members ran in the Pelorus Trust event -- not only that but we helped out with pacing for the half marathon.  Getting more involved with different running groups has been a feature of this season and the help has been much appreciated.  "Running for all" as they say!   Well done to:

  • pacers: Butch Borlase (1.30), Rob McCrudden (1.50), Ron Tineke Hooft (2.10)
  • and competitors: Vaughan Brown, Meredith Ogilvie, Trent Corbett, Michell Van Looy, Eleanore Brown, Peter Hanson, Zhihao Cai, Nic Hankinson (3rd in half)

Rimutaka Rail Trail Run & Walk 21km, 14km & 7km, 12 November

Trentham are promoting their rail trail event, and this year have a new Team Challenge (details on website).  A great target to help gear up for those longer summer runs.  Full event information is available on our website along with online entry (which is open) www.trenthamunited.co.nz/rimutaka.html
