Changes for 2016 Wellington cross country and road season 29 Feb 2016.

Athletics Wellington has announced some changes for the 2016 cross country and road season.

  • For the Wellington Cross Country champs, competitors in school years 1 to 8 will compete for their year levels, rather than their age grades. The Wellington Champs will be combined with the Kids XC series and will be held at Grenada North Park, rather than Waikanae.
  • For both the cross country and road champs, there will be a long (10km) and short (5km) course championship for each of the adult grades. Competitors can choose which grade they will race in.
  • Age grades for males and females will be the same. This means the introduction of a W60 grade for events that already have a M60 grade, and Masters Women age will move from 35 to 40.
  • Race bibs will be used for each of the four interclub races (Vosseler, Dorne, XC, Road) instead of shoe timing chips. These are the same bibs currently used for the Kids XC series.

The interclub calendar has been published; the club syllabus (which includes the club races and pack runs) will be published on this website as soon as it becomes available.
