A run and a BBQ - not a bad way to spend the afternoon.  Andrea will be firing up the barbie and advises that there is no need to bring meat, but BYO drinks.

Last week - Event results
A really hot day with some fine sunburn to show for it, along with great results at the Hutt River Trail event on Saturday.  Gareth took out first place in the half marathon, and Melissa and Sherynnei blitzed the 10 km walk (what was it with the ironing boards?!).  Results are not yet on the website but I know at least Andrea and Miles were also there from Olympic..  

Tony did the Wellington half ironman at the 100th Scorching Tri, with Graeme and Cathy making a team effort on the Long Tri race.

RunFest is a weekend for trail runners, being held in Wellington on the 27-28 February. Put together by some local Wellington folks, it's two days of talks, practical sessions, information sharing, trail running films and geeking out with fellow runners. Speakers include Heather Anderson, current holder of FKTs for unsupported hikes on the Pacific Crest and Appalachian trails; Malcolm Law, who completed the High Five-0 challenge in 2015,  climbing 50 peaks over 50 consecutive days; local running legend Roger Robinson; and trail running coaches, Mark Anderson and James Kuegler.  See http://runfest.org.nz for details.

Advance Notice: Around Rarotonga Race
The Round Rarotonga Road Race celebrates its 39th Anniversary with its annual weeklong event from the 22-28 September 2016 held on the beautiful tropical island of Rarotonga. The event caters for everyone including families, social, recreational and competitive runners and is a fantastic opportunity to combine a holiday with a once in a lifetime sporting achievement.
