Summer run/walk Clubrooms, 23 January, 1:45pm
What a great city we live in, with such a lot happening.  There will be a "normal" pack run leaving from the clubrooms but various other events over the long weekend will be in the minds of some members.  A goodly number are off to the Hutt River Trail in the morning -- but some are intending to come back to the club for mid-late afternoon.  Then on the Sunday a couple of people are joining the 400 others doing one of the events associated with the 100th Scorchers Tri so might be taking it easy on Saturday.  Of course there are also the various park runs and the athletics program that will be on as usual.  Good job Monday is a holiday for most... 

Hutt River Trail Events, 23 January
This is an annual 60K Ultra Marathon starting in the Wairarapa, a 42K Marathon from Kaitoke, a 21K Half Marathon from Trentham and a 10K starting from McEwan Park, Petone, with all events ending at McEwan Park, Petone.  These are off-road events, over a variety of surfaces including: bush tracks, grass, gravel and sealed footpaths, and some unsealed vehicle tracks. All of the course is shared with other users, such as runners, walkers, trampers, cyclists and motor vehicles in places. Unusual features include: tunnels, stiles, gateways and zigzags, and one flight of steps.  Details and entry here: http://www.sportsground.co.nz/auroraharriers/88443/
 

Advance Notice: Around Rarotonga Race
The Round Rarotonga Road Race celebrates its 39th Anniversary with its annual weeklong event from the 22-28 September 2016 held on the beautiful tropical island of Rarotonga. The event caters for everyone including families, social, recreational and competitive runners and is a fantastic opportunity to combine a holiday with a once in a lifetime sporting achievement.  A week of warmth at the end of winter sounds a good idea and a bunch of club members are planning to attend this year.  No firm arrangements yet but you can check out the website here: http://sale.cookislands.travel/events/round-rarotonga-road-race-2/
